The FTIR equipment has been recently initialized. First successful measurements were performed and main guidelines were created. For starters, it was diesel agricultural vehicle emissions that were looked into.
Once the FTIR device has been assembled, it occurred to be really easy to operate and foolproof – so that with enough dose of safety precautions even inexperienced workers cannot accidentally damage the machine.
The Calcmet software requires case-specific calibration and for preliminary tests with a diesel engine, the selection of measured species is not yet optimal. The species ignored are, however, not of interest for future research with ammonia combustion, so the tests were considered satisfactory.
After minor improvements, the FTIR is ready and operational.
