Investigation of the diesel fuelled tractor is the first step on the road to construction of ammonia fuelled engine. The vehicle was delivered on the field to Cracow where initial experiments were conducted. The work has been done within WP2.

Original engine was modernized before the testing due to issues with spare parts. Main changes included:

  • switch to one cylinder diesel engine
  • removal of flywheel, installment of new belt pulley
  • modernization of electric circuits
  • modifications in fuel systems (e.g. throttle cable)

The work resulted in lower mass of the engine.

The tests were performed according to the scenarios:

  • driving cycle – unstable conditions scenario, three speed variations and two variants of loads
  • plowing – low speed “stable” conditions, two speed variations and two variants of loads
  • harrowing – faster “stable” conditions, two speed variations and two variants of loads

Measurements gathered data focusing mostly on:

  • engine RPM
  • fuel consumption
  • tractive force
  • exhaust gas pressure
  • exhaust gas temperature
